Error correction uses lyrical redundancy. The chorus appears six times; stacking suppresses magnetic noise, boosting SNR by 11 dB. Weak signals—such as the 1 kHz hum that precedes each verse—emerge after median stacking, revealing melody consistent with 1887 sheet-music archives.

Storage capacity is modest but emotionally priceless. One rocker stores ~600 kB of vector field data—across an estimated 5,000 surviving cast-iron cradles in European collections, the potential archive is 3 GB of Victorian nursery soundscapes, predating the earliest cylinder recordings by a decade.

Restoration is non-invasive; the coupon is re-bonded with epoxy resin tinted to match patina, leaving the cradle structurally and visually intact.
